Inaugural No Falls Week soars above expectations

The No Falls Foundation successfully launched its first No Falls Week campaign on 13th – 17th May 2024 to promote safe working at height, and the prevention of falls.

It is estimated over 1 million businesses, and 10 million workers, carry out work involving some form of working at height every year. No Falls Week provided the opportunity for organisations across all sectors to place a focus on working at height safety.

Organisations such as FASET, SAEMA and WAHSA contributed free guidance material highlighting the critical need for easy to access safety tips and training.

The event gained parliamentary support with Clare Adamson, SNP MSP for Motherwell and Wishaw leading a debate in The Scottish Parliament to highlight the event.

The Foundation provided a toolkit of resources to help organisations plan their activities and promotion of No Falls Week 2024, which was downloaded over 9000 times. Some enterprising organisations created branded workwear; polos, t-shirts and hi-vis vests – even in French! And another served up cupcakes branded with the No Falls Week logo.

The Foundation received overwhelming positive feedback from participants with participants reporting taking several positive actions, including the introduction of internal working at height exams and increased training.

No Falls Week 2025 is already in the planning stages, with a date set for 12th to 16th May 2025, when participants can expect to see more resources that help the industry raise awareness about the importance of safe working at height.

The No Falls Foundation has also recently launched a research study into falls from height - the largest study of its kind in the UK to date - aimed at anyone who has experienced, witnessed or investigated falls from height.

The research seeks to gather more comprehensive data on the underlying causes and circumstances of falls from height. By understanding these factors, industry can take targeted actions to prevent incidents and help make sure everyone who works at height comes down safely.
