Edge Protection Training

Edge Protection systems are intended to prevent operatives from falling from roofs and other working levels.

The FASET Training Committee developed this course so that installer companies and site managers can ensure the operatives understand the scope of BS EN 13374 which governs Temporary edge protection systems.

All FASET Training is delivered by our Training Centres.
Please make direct contact with them regarding pricing and availability.

The FASET Edge Protection course focuses fully on the requirements of BS EN 13374 including the requirements for design and testing and teaches the installer how to interpret design drawings, to identity the correct components and how to install the system compliantly to the design. It includes theory and practical installation at height utilising a MEWP. Following successful completion of the course the candidates are required to gain experience on site installing these systems under the supervision of a Blue Skilled FASET Edge Protection installer.  Subsequently a portfolio of evidence is generated supporting their General Site Assessment (GSA-2) to ensure their competence.

The course outcome is that learners will be able to understand and work to the requirements of the Standard and industry good practice when installing designed Edge Protection.  It is important to note that this course does not qualify the individual to install traditional scaffolding platforms.

Once competence is demonstrated, the operative can apply for a FASET Blue Skilled Worker Edge Protection card; or an addition to an existing FASET card.  The additional qualification / card has a 5 year validity period and can be renewed by re-sitting the FASET Edge Protection Operative Training Course and re-taking the GSA-2. If competence is not demonstrated, a further site assessment may be organised following a period of supervised work to gain experience. Course attendance does not guarantee a FASET card.
